Karl Wente, who immigrated from Germany in 1849 as one of the "49ers" during the California Gold Rush, purchased 19 hectares of land in Livermore Valley and founded Wente Winery in 1883. Even during the Prohibition era, the winery was permitted to produce wine for Mass, and it has been known as "America's oldest continuously family-owned winery" and has been loved for over 120 years.
Aged for eight months in French and American oak, this wine is the perfect accompaniment to fruit, cheese, and grilled meat dishes. Its fruity notes of raspberry, spicy black pepper, and a hint of vanilla complement it perfectly.
